Artisan Beer Bread Recipe

This bread recipe is delish and super easy to make! I was very impressed with myself and never will buy Artisan bread from the grocery again. I baked it in the dutch oven and it turned out perfect, the texture and flavor was amazing.

Here is what you need (Yields 2 round loaves):

6 1/2 Cups Flour

1 1/2 Cup Beer (warmed up in the microwave for about 30 sec)

1 1/2 cup of water

3 tbls Yeast

1 tbls Salt

In your mixer combine the warm beer and warm water, add your yeast and wait about 3-5 minutes until it is bubbly on top.  Next add your salt and then half of the flour. Mix on medium speed with your dough hook attachment, scraping down the sides. Once combined add the rest of the flour and mix until your dough forms a ball. Take out of the bowl and knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes. Until dough is soft, smooth and springy. Throw back into your bowl coated in olive oil, place a towel or plastic wrap on top and set in a warm area and let rise for 2 hours.

Pre heat Oven to 500 with dutch oven inside. Once your dough is done rising punch it down and divide into two equal rounds. Place one round into dutch oven and put lid on. Turn oven down to 400 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes, then remove lid and bake for another 20 minutes. Repeat with other ball of dough.

I always love a fresh warm piece right out of the oven but if you wait to cut this bread until it cools completely the texture is amazing and holds better. and it’s easier to cut as well.

Prayer in our house

I can’t remember a night as a child where I didn’t pray as I snuggled into my bed, I still continue this tradition every night. Even though there are those nights I fall asleep in mid prayer. Having a relationship with God has always been important to me and I was raised in a wonderful loving christian home encouraging a relationship with God. I strive to do the same with my children.  Even when times are tough, the kids make messes, or tell me no and I get impatient with them yell, or get frustrated, I always try to go back to God and remember how fast life passes us by. Sure, I have made many mistakes in parenting and am still learning everyday by my mistakes. Like right now as I try to write this, I have one nursing baby, one 4 1/2-year-old poking at my head and yelling in my ear and one 3-year-old snuggled as close as possible. I want to throw my hands up in the air, yell “STOP” and tell them to give me space. I can feel the frustration rising in my chest and I know even though as annoying as it may be. I will most likely miss these moments when my kids are grown and want nothing to do with me. I often turn to God to lift the frustration off my shoulders and pray to him to “PLEASE PLEASE, GIVE ME PATIENCE!!!!”

Prayer is important in our home and we have been doing prayer at night more often with the kids, something I have always said we must do and something I’m trying to take time to do with them, even on those nights where I just want to be in my bed as quickly as possible and escape the chaos from the day.  I have noticed a change in Finley since we have started our nightly prayers. She is and always has been a big scaredy cat. Never wanting to sleep alone or be in her own bed. I have been really focusing on the importance of trusting God to keep her safe at night and take away her fears. She has been sleeping in her bed and asks to pray nightly, making sure to ask God for safety and to take away bad dreams. At such a small age a relationship with God is building and I couldn’t be happier.

Praying for safety has always been in my prayer routine. I found this wall decor on pinterest with a verse that I couldn’t have found more fitting to hang in our home.

He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge. Pslam 9:4

My friend made me the beautiful sign that now hangs above our stairwell. I love it and read the verse often, remembering that God indeed does cover us with his wings, watches over us, blesses us and keeps us safe. For this I praise him for all our beautiful blessings and again remember how short life is. When feeling alone, scared, sad, or hopeless and I know God is protecting me waiting for us to find refuge, safety in his word and grace.

Trish Scully Child

A few years ago I found this adorable dress at a little local boutique in Bellingham, Wa. I had never heard of the brand but the dress was so amazing and so adorable I HAD to snag it right up for Finley. It was and still is one of my very favorite clothing items from when Finley was a toddler. The brand was Trish Scully Child. I had never come across Trish Scully again until recently, and we were lucky enough to get to review an outfit for each of the girls. Again, the quality, the design and the fit were what I fell in love with from the first time. Such beautiful and whimsy designs, perfect for my little girls.

Trish Scully Child is a high-end brand but is prideful in the fact that they are an everyday glamorous line for girls with an affordable price tag.  The clothing provides European styling, quality fabrications, all washable and low maintenance, which is great for us mama’s who have TONS of laundry and sometimes forget to take out the dedicates and then accidentally ruins stuff ::CoughCough:: ME!

Trish Scully offers sizes Infant to 10 and can be purchased online as well as in boutiques across the country. You can find out the latest and view the newest styles on Trish Scully child on Facebook and Twitter.

This first Photo is the dress from the local Boutique when Finley was only 2.
